The Riviera is famous for its beautiful seaside, the fine weather all year round, the flowers and the flavours. The still uncontaminated inland yet is known only by a few. One can find medieval villages where ancient crafts, traditions and recipes still exist. There is an unbelievably thriving natural environment, greener than you could imagine, with little churches and villages perched on hills sloping down to the sea amidst incredible panoramic views.
This page is meant just to remind you of this surprisingly undiscovered world. There are beautiful places like Triora, Stellanello, Bardino, Bussana, Taggia, and many others. Since historical times they are confederate, forming the "Mountain Community" (Comunita' Montane), to help and protect each other.

In this page we will present the villages of the Valle Argentina (Silvery Valley), called this way  because of the river running along it, whose pebblyshore and stones along the course have silvery reflections.
From Triora you have stunning views of the valley, and also of the Maritime Alps. It is often amidst clouds, and there are legends that witches lived here. In fact, there is also a Museum of Popular Traditions, with a section dedicated to the witches. There are little winding streets where you find craftsmen, little churches and sanctuaries. You can breath here the freshest and uncontaminated air you could think of, and buy the famous wooden oven Triora bread.

In all these villages you can taste the famous Ligurian cuisine, with high quality ingredients (olive oil and olives of Taggia, Pigato white wine of Albenga, etc.), and with natural herbs. The recipes are simple yet sophisticated (trofie - a sort of pasta al pesto- , farinata di ceci - chick peas flour pizza -, pizzoccheri - a special type of pizza -, and very imaginative and fresh salads). It is a paradise for vegetarians, and also for those who eat meat (wild boar dishes etc).

The villages of the inland will introduce you to a forgotten world, with their charactful streets, their lively colours, crafts and flavours that you thought didn't exist anymore. The unbelievable clean air, the quiet and silence, the breathtaking views and the natural beauty will make you forget the stress and chaos of the city life, and will make you concentrate on the really important aspects of life.
